Do you consider adoption a 'selfish' act?
No it is not a selfish act.what is selfish is keeping a child when you can't care for them and I'm not just talking about material things either. My neighbors are in the process of at being 66 and 70 years young adopting their great grandson so he doesn't go into foster care.Mom is unable to take care of him and she admits it.When my hubby had his vasectomy we said that if we could ever afford it we would adopt a child that needed a family. If anything it is selfish to keep a baby you can not afford to support either money wise or emotionally. Foster care for most kids is not a walk in the park. It is not a good place to be. and why are they there ? because their parents were selfish. Don't let these people hurt you. you choose to keep your cousins baby in the family and raise her as your own( alot to be said). in many ways she is loved more because you choose her you got stuck with the other children. There are many good and wonderful things to be said about adopting. I hope one day I can do the same for some kid who needs a home and a family to call their own. I take my hat off to you, i think you are doing a wonderful thing adding her to your family. tell everybody else to go fly a kite if they don't like it.(and that is putting it nicely)
